Garmin Instinct 3: The Watch Always Alive
Thus, I've been investigating this new Garmin watch and,
really, they have done amazing things with the solar charging mechanism this
time.
What's the Big Deal?
The Instinct 3 was just released, and everyone is most
preoccupied with the battery life. When you're charging with the solar
charging, Garmin claims it five times longer than the prior model. That's big,
not a tiny leap.
What exactly does that mean? This gadget can effectively run
forever if you spend much of your time outside. I'm talking weeks, maybe even
months depending on your usage. You no longer need to consider charging it.
How Does Solar Charging Work?
Built directly onto the watch face are these small solar
panels. Solar energy transforms itself into battery voltage upon striking the
face. When worn, it resembles just a standard watch; it is not something you
observe.
The cool thing is you don't have to spend every day in
direct sunlight. Though outdoor sun clearly works much better, indoor lights
also benefit. Simply wearing it during your daily life provides it enough juice
to keep running.
Quick note: The solar charging performs best when you
are really outside working. Even if you spend the entire day indoors and don't
travel very much, you will still need to charge it occasionally but
considerably less than other timepieces.
For whom is this watch intended?
This is not exactly a stylish watch. It seems sturdy and has
a rough appearance. This is your watch if you enjoy hiking, camping, running,
or any kind of outdoor activity. It can manage being beaten up water, drops,
dust, whatever.
I believe it is perfect for those who:
Loving the outdoors, they don't want to stress over their
watch dying.
Take extended journeys where charging presents difficulty
Looking for something reliable which only works?
Need GPS and fitness tracking without the difficulty.
What else can it accomplish?
It has all the normal items you would expect, in addition to
the solar thing. It links to your phone for alerts; heart rate tracking, sleep
monitoring, a well-functioning GPS.
It follows almost every sport or activity you can imagine.
There's probably a mode for whatever you do, running, swimming,
bicycling, walking. The GPS is quite precise as well, which is very important
if you are trail running or discovering new locations.
Even under strong sunshine, the screen is quite legible.
Because what good is a watch you can't read outside, that's something I always
examine.
My interpretation of it:
Look, there are much more elaborate timepieces out there
with colored screens and so forth. But if you want something that just works
and doesn't need babysitting, this is hard to beat.
The solar technology actually alters the course of things. I
recall my aged watch giving out during a camping trip; it was incredibly
infuriating. You simply no longer experience this after this.
Bottom Line: Buy this watch if you spend time
outdoors and despise having to handle dead batteries. If you need something
elaborate for the office, perhaps seek elsewhere.

Garmin actually got something right here. Solving the one
issue everyone faces battery life they converted a nice watch into something
far better. It actually works, not only as a trick.
This might be the final timepiece you will require for an
extended period of time for outdoor individuals. It does everything you need
without being complex, lasts forever, and is difficult.

no drama. Occasionally, you need that.
